ABOUT THE SHOW

Chorus of Dreams is a ninety-minute dance theater performance in two acts. The piece is a daring new collaboration between Philadelphia’s ArcheDream for HUMANKIND and music director Eric "EO" Obenthaler of Oakland. The joint ensemble features over 12 dancers and musicians. EO composed the original score fusing global rhythms with modern American forms for four musicians playing an array of horns, strings and synthesizers. ArcheDream’s blacklight stage lighting activates a surreal design environment of dynamic scenery, hand painted masks and vivid costumes.

Chorus of Dreams expands the multi-disciplinary theater tradition with its unprecedented sonic and visual spectacle as rich and varied as the American experience. The stage becomes a crucible in which UV (black-light) masked theater and a world-rhythms music ensemble jointly engage the values and traditions that establish our American Dreams. At this pivotal moment in American history, Chorus of Dreams challenges audiences and communities to approach our National identity through fresh eyes and open minds.
